Robinson, who was appointed senator in the Parliament of Canada at the beginning of 2024, will receive the “Soul of Rurality” award, which is part of an initiative by the specialized agency in agricultural and rural development to give visibility to men and women who leave their mark and make a difference in the countryside of the American continent, key to food and nutritional security and environmental sustainability of the planet.

A campaign to express appreciation to and recognize the work of farmers and food chain workers who, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, guarantee food production, transportation, commercialization and supply in countries throughout the Americas.
IICA is committed to giving visibility to the role of women and accelerating the development of sound public policies for the benefit of women who live in the countryside. To this end, the Institute has included the topic of rural women as a cross-cutting issue in its 2018-2022 Medium-term Plan.
Each edition of the ECLAC-FAO-IICA joint report analyzes the main trends that affect agriculture and impact the lives of rural dwellers, and provides an outlook on possible future scenarios with respect to each topic covered by the document.
